How numerous are the blessings of Christmas in our lives!
We celebrate the birth of the Lord Jesus in which all the nations of the earth are blessed. He blessed our nature when He took flesh like us. He resembled us in everything except sin. God created us in His image and likeness, but we had lost that divine image when we sinned. Then God was incarnated and united in our nature to restore to us His image and the glory which we have lost because of our sin.
The birth of Christ was the begginning of the great salvation which was accomplished by His redemption on the cross. Therefore, Simon, the elder, carried Jesus in his arms and said with all joy, his dream being fulfilled, "O Lord, let your servant depart in peace according to Your Word which you have prepared before all people." (Luke 2:29-31)
The blessing of reconciliation between Heaven and Earth: We have heard at the birth of Christ many angels appeared proclaiming the Good News of great joy, "Behold I bring you Good Tidings of great joy, for unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour Who is Christ the Lord." (Luke 2:10)
God's love is clear and apparent: God revelaed His love to mankind at His birth when He lived amongst people doing good, granting them His love and compassion. He carried them in His tender heart. Moreover, He carried their sufferings and their sins, for He is "The lamb of God Who carries away the sins of the world." (John 1:29) He promised to with us till the end of the world. (Matt.28:20)
Hence, our knowledge of God became a personal knowledge and not an intellectual knowledge, as John said in his epistle, "That which was from the begginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handles, concerning the Word of Life." (1 John 1:1)
We cannont count the blessings of the birth of Christ in our lives. By His birth, humanity was born again and was granted eternal life. The birth of Christ divided the history of the world into two parts: B.C. and A.D.
